Album Info:Various stages of degradation of the former EL are depicted here. As this area is close to home, I will be adding to this album periodically, stay tuned. Myself and many others earned a living in what has become a boneyard. Thanks for looking in on our past. Please also see my other EL Boneyard albums as well, thank you.

It was a dark and stormy night.
Title:  It was a dark and stormy night.
Description:  In January 1978 we enjoyed one of the worst blizzards I can remember. It was 44 degrees when I came to work at 11:00 PM. At about 1:30 AM, we derailed under this bridge. Since we were stuck on the tail track we were captive here. By about 3:00 AM we were back in business. In the meantime it had gotten quite cold and windy. By daylight it was -6 degrees with up to 100 mph wind gusts. I had on everything I owned.

Why are those walls so weird?
Title:  Why are those walls so weird?
Description:  Our yard would have covered the entire area behind this building and the track to BF Goodrich curved around this building. In the background, the Akron Transportation Center occupies what was our High Yard. Closer to the building was the Cereal Belt Yard, later known as the Belt Yard. It was in 5 & 6 Belt that we would spot TOFC for UPS loading and unloading. Two ramps were built out of a cut in half TOFC, leaving the trucks on one end and tilting the other end toward the ground. Worked well. See rrpa RJ Williams Akron and Vicinity album for a glimpse at that ramp in the "after" days.
